Privacy Policy
for the app "ChessClub Match" and the website chessclub-studio.com · Last updated: 29 September 2026
Â
In short: ChessClub Match stores all data on your device only. We receive no data from you – there are no accounts, no advertising, no usage statistics. The app connects to the internet only when you fetch club and player data from the German Chess Federation, and for purchasing the full version through Apple.

Â
2. What data the app processes – and where it stays
Â
In ChessClub Match you enter your club's data: players (name, year of birth, ratings, optionally contact details), teams, tournaments and results. This data is kept exclusively in the app's database on your device. The app does not transmit it to anyone – not to us either.
Â
Backups the app creates automatically are also stored on your device. Exports (PDF, HTML, CSV, tournament files) are created only when you trigger them, and only in the folder you choose.
Â
You or your club are responsible for your members' data. The app is a tool on your device, much like a spreadsheet.
Â
3. Internet connections
Â
a) Rating portal of the German Chess Federation
Â
If you select your club at the German Chess Federation (Deutscher Schachbund, DSB) in the app, the app downloads the list of clubs and then the player list of your club from the DSB rating portal (address: schachde-apps.liga.nu). The data transferred is: name, year of birth, DWZ, Elo and the portal ID of the registered players. Afterwards the app checks about once a week whether anything has changed there – only when an internet connection is available.
Â
The app sends the club number to the DSB. As with any request on the internet, the DSB server also receives your device's IP address. The privacy policy of the Deutscher Schachbund e. V. applies to this service. This feature is available only in the full version and only when Germany is selected as the country. If you do not use it, the app does not connect to the DSB at all.
Â
b) Purchasing the full version through Apple
Â
The full version is a subscription you take out in the App Store. Payment, invoices and subscription management are handled by Apple. We receive no payment or account data. The app only learns from Apple whether a valid subscription exists and stores nothing further about it. Apple's privacy policy applies.
Â
c) Nothing else
Â
The app contains no advertising, no usage analytics and no tracking. It sends no crash reports and no usage statistics to us. Links in the app – such as the one to this page – open your browser.
Â
4. How long data is kept
Â
Your data stays on your device until you delete it in the app or remove the app together with its data folder. The app shows where the database is located under Settings → Database.
Â
5. Your rights
Â
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right of access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, the right to data portability and to object, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. Since we ourselves store no personal data about your use of the app, there is usually nothing we could provide information about. For privacy questions you can reach us at the e-mail address given above.
Â
6. Children
Â
The app is intended for clubs and their tournament directors, not for children. We collect no data from users of any age.
Â
7. Changes
Â
If something about the app changes that affects privacy, we will update this policy. The version with the date stated above applies.

8. Newsletter on chessclub-studio.com

On chessclub-studio.com you can sign up for our newsletter. All we need is your e-mail address. We use it only to inform you about ChessClub Studio and its apps (Match, Office, Companion) – for example about new apps and updates.

Sign-up uses a double opt-in process: after submitting the form you receive an e-mail with a confirmation link; you are only subscribed once you click it. To be able to prove your consent, we store the time of sign-up and of confirmation. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); storing the proof is based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The website, the sign-up form and the newsletter are run via Wix (Wix.com Ltd., 40 Namal Tel Aviv St., Tel Aviv, Israel), which acts on our behalf as a processor (Art. 28 GDPR). The European Commission has found that Israel ensures an adequate level of data protection. Where Wix uses service providers in the USA, this is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Wix can record whether a newsletter is opened and which links in it are clicked; we use this only to improve the newsletter.

You can withdraw your consent at any time – via the unsubscribe link in every newsletter or by e-mail to info@chessclub-studio.com. We will then remove your address from the mailing list. Your rights under section 5 apply to the newsletter in full: on request we will tell you what data we hold about your e-mail address.

9. Visiting chessclub-studio.com

The website chessclub-studio.com is hosted by Wix (Wix.com Ltd., Namal Tel Aviv St. 40, Tel Aviv, Israel). When you visit it, Wix automatically processes technical data that every browser sends and that is needed to deliver the site and run it securely: your IP address, date and time of access, the page requested, the previously visited page (referrer) and your browser and device type. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a stable and secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). These log data are kept only as long as necessary for operation and security.

Wix uses strictly necessary cookies and similar storage technologies for this, for example for security, load balancing and remembering your cookie settings (Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking. Should we use statistics or marketing cookies in the future, we will do so only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG), which you can withdraw at any time.

Wix acts as our processor (Art. 28 GDPR). For transfers to Israel and the USA, what is said in section 8 applies.

If you write to us by e-mail, we use your details only to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them once they are no longer needed for that purpose. Your rights under section 5 apply here as well.
